LIFECYCLE COST ANALYSIS, ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY, AND STRUCTURAL EFFICIENCY OF PREFABRICATED BUILDING COMPONENTS IN URBAN DEVELOPMENT
The adoption of prefabricated building components in urban development presents numerous benefits, including cost efficiency, sustainability, and structural performance. This paper analyzes the lifecycle costs, environmental impacts, and structural efficiency of prefabrication in comparison to conventional construction methods. The study reviews current literature from 2024 and examines empirical data to assess the long-term viability of prefabrication in urban development. Results indicate that prefabricated systems reduce material waste, lower energy consumption, and improve structural integrity while minimizing costs over a building’s lifespan. However, challenges such as high initial investments and design constraints remain. The findings provide valuable insights for policymakers, developers, and engineers seeking to optimize urban construction practices.
