Green Cloud ComputingFor Iot: Energy Optimization, Virtualization, And Sustainable Data Management

The rapid proliferation of the Internet of Things (IoT) has introduced significant challenges in energyconsumption, operational scalability, and environmental sustainability. Traditional cloud infrastructures, whileproviding scalable computing resources, contribute substantially to global carbon emissions. In this context, GreenCloud Computing (GCC) has emerged as a transformative strategy, focusing on energy-efficient practices, virtualization, and sustainable data management to support IoT ecosystems. This paper presents a comprehensivestudy of GCC practices tailored for IoT environments, elaborates on state-of-the-art technologies, and proposes aconceptual framework integrating edge computing, dynamic virtualization, and AI- driven energy management.Through simulated environments using CloudSim and iFogSim, the study evaluates the performance of theproposed framework in reducing energy consumption and improving operational efficiency. The paper alsodiscusses security challenges, practical applications, and future research directions to guide the development ofeco-friendly IoT infrastructures.
