Characterising the effect of terracing on surface soil and vegetation properties of a wildfire affected hillslope.

A new, open dataset for use, in conjunction with the DAYCENT model, to investigate the effect of terracing on surface soil and vegetation properties under different climate scenarios. This dataset contains data, for both terraced (TT) and uneterraced (UT) transects, on Leaf Area Index (LAI), tree density (tress/m^2), soil moisture content (%), soil bulk density, vegetation cover (% coverage of each species), soil pH, particle size (% sand, silt, clay) and infiltration rate (ml/s). For the Daycent model, the following input files are provided: A weather (.wth) file for Andratx (provided by The Spanish National Meteorological Service AEMET) A site parameter and site.100 file for both the terraced and unterraced transect in Sa Font de la Vila. The Daycent excecutionable file can be accessed and downloaded from Colorado State University, at https://www.soilcarbonsolutionscenter.com/daycent-agreement. Secondary data was also extracted using RStudios (Version 4.40) through the RClimChange package. Assistance in the data collection was provided by Durham University Geography Department and the University of the Balaerics. The repository is published with an assocaited ArcGIS Story Map that provides background information relevant to the data collected and the study sites concerned. Abstract
