AI-Powered College Chatbot
Abstract: In today’s digital era, students and parents often struggle to find accurate, timely information regarding college admissions, academic programs, examination schedules, scholarships, and more. Visiting the college office for every small inquiry can be time-consuming, frustrating, and inefficient especially when information could easily be made available online. To solve this problem, we propose the JCEP AI Chatbot, a smart conversational assistant designed specifically for educational institutions. The JCEP Chatbot is a web-based application that allows users to interact with an intelligent system through a simple chat interface. It uses advanced Natural Language Processing (NLP) techniques, a fine-tuned LLaMA AI model, and machine learning algorithms to understand student queries and respond accurately. Built with a Python Flask backend and deployed via a college website or mobile app, this system reduces the need for human staff to answer repetitive questions, thus saving time and improving efficiency. The chatbot matches user queries against a database of frequently asked questions and also has the ability to generate smart responses using AI when no perfect match is found. It also includes features like a feedback loop, fuzzy matching, and user-friendly design, making it accessible and practical for all types of users students, faculty, and parents alike. With colleges expanding and the number of queries increasing, handling every question manually becomes challenging for administrative staff. This not only increases their workload but also reduces the overall efficiency of college operations. A common problem is the repetition of questions every year, students ask the same questions about admissions, documents, hostel facilities, fees, and more. This is where technology can step in to provide a permanent, scalable, and intelligent solution. Keywords — Chatbot, NLP, Flask, LLaMA, Automation, AI Assistant, Web Appllication.
