Bridging Worlds: The Role, Methods, and Challenges of Literary Translation
Abstract. Literary translation plays a vital role in the global circulation of literature by enabling texts to transcend linguistic and cultural boundaries. Unlike technical or informational translation, literary translation involves a delicate balance of fidelity, creativity, and cultural sensitivity. This paper explores the types of literary texts, common translation methods, the translator’s creative role, and the major challenges that literary translators face. Using the work of Uzbek translator Jamol Kamol as a case study, the paper highlights how literary translators contribute to cultural exchange and the preservation of literary integrity across languages.
