D10.6: Final report on communication and dissemination activities and their impact

About this document Report detailing the communication and dissemination process conducted in nextGEMS with the analysis of its impact. Work package in charge WP10 Executive summary This deliverable details the activities conducted to implement the nextGEMS communication and dissemination plan. The main objective of communication and dissemination activities is to reach out to several audiences that can benefit from receiving periodic updates about the project and its scientific advancements. The targeted audiences of the nextGEMS communication and dissemination plan covered a wide range of profiles: from the most technical–the scientific community and technical profiles related to High Performance Computing (HPC)–, to policy and society. Communication and dissemination activities are a good platform to start bridging the science-policy and science-practice interfaces, and we ensured that the wide range of activities deployed supported their strengthening. Besides using standard science communication approaches, such as peer-reviewed articles, participation at conferences, social media, and the project website, nextGEMS also explored and applied innovative communication and dissemination approaches and tools. These include Vlogs (the video communication), science explainers, and, on the scientific side, implementing participatory approaches with stakeholders, and storylines. The communication and dissemination activities are part of WP10 and the Storms & Society theme, and the three main partners responsible for its implementation are the Max-Planck-Institut für Meteorologie (MPI-M), Latest Thinking (LT), and the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC). However, the activities have been deployed in close collaboration with all consortium members and project participants.
