Passiflora coccinea Feuillet & J. M. MacDougal
Passiflora supersect. Coccinea Feuillet & J.M.MacDougal Passiflora: The Journal & Newsletter of Passiflora Society International 13 (2): 38 (Feuillet & MacDougal 2003 [2004]). INCLUDED SPECIES. — Six species. Leaves crenate to serrate and glandular at margin, red bracts (sometimes green) with margin glands, red-faced flowers, erect straight outer corona filaments (often white). NOTE The supersection Coccinea is distributed throughout the Neotropics. The number of its species has increased in recent years without real studies analyzing the variability of morphological characters and genetic relations over large distribution areas. This is certainly an interesting task for the years to come.
