Impact of nutrition on school performance among pupils of rural public school.

Abstract Obesity and overweight are growing public health concerns worldwide, leading to various health complications such as cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, and hypertension. This study examines the relationship between Body Mass Index (BMI), waist circumference, and weight loss as health indicators in Guriceel, Galmudug, Somalia. The research assesses the effectiveness of BMI and waist circumference measurements in predicting health risks and evaluates weight loss strategies for improving overall well-being. Using a descriptive research design, data was collected through surveys and interviews with healthcare professionals and individuals from selected hospitals. The findings indicate that waist circumference is a more reliable indicator of health risks than BMI, as it better predicts abdominal obesity and related complications. Additionally, the study highlights the importance of regular weight monitoring, physical activity, and balanced dietary habits in achieving and maintaining a healthy weight. The study emphasizes the need for community-based health awareness programs, improved healthcare services, and policy interventions to address obesity and overweight-related health issues. Recommendations include implementing routine waist circumference screenings, promoting physical activity, and encouraging lifestyle modifications for long-term weight management. These findings provide valuable insights for healthcare practitioners, policymakers, and individuals seeking to improve their health outcomes.
