Dielectric Frequency Response (DFR) Analysis for Moisture Detection in Cellulose Insulation of Power Transformer
Dielectric Frequency Response (DFR) analysis is a powerful diagnostic tool for assessing the moisture content in cellulose insulation of power transformers, a critical factor affecting their reliability and longevity. This study focuses on applying DFR analysis to a 150 MVA power transformer. DFR measures the complex dielectric properties of insulation over a broad frequency range, enabling the evaluation of moisture levels and their impact on insulation performance. Moisture in cellulose insulation accelerates aging, reduces dielectric strength, and increases the risk of failure.
