TEACHING LINGUISTIC AND EXTRA-LINGUISTIC ASPECTS OF TRANSLATION
Translation is a multifaceted activity that encompasses more than mere linguistic conversion. Effective translation pedagogy must address both linguistic competence and extra-linguistic knowledge, including cultural, situational, and pragmatic factors. This thesis explores the theoretical underpinnings and practical methodologies for teaching the linguistic and extra-linguistic aspects of translation. Drawing on translation studies, applied linguistics, and educational theory, it presents an integrated framework for translation instruction. The research highlights the necessity of a balanced curriculum that incorporates both dimensions and offers practical strategies for educators.
