Adaptive Control Strategies for Improving Power Quality in Solar and Wind Integrated Grid-Connected EV Charging Systems
As the demand for electric vehicles (EVs) surges, the integration of renewable energy sources, particularly grid-connected solar and wind systems, has become crucial for sustainable fast charging solutions. However, climate change exacerbates power variation, leading to significant challenges in power quality, including transients and dynamic conditions. This study proposes an adaptive intelligent controller designed to mitigate these issues by enhancing power quality in EV charging systems. The proposed system utilizes a grid-connected AC-DC bidirectional converter, specifically a neutral-point clamped (NPC) converter, which is well-suited for medium and high-voltage applications. This converter minimizes voltage stress, thereby extending the operational lifespan of the system components and ensuring continuous, reliable performance. Through simulation and analysis, the effectiveness of the adaptive intelligent controller in maintaining power quality and stability during dynamic load conditions is demonstrated, ultimately contributing to the efficiency and sustainability of grid-connected EV fast charging infrastructures.
