REWILDING BABYLON REGENERATIVE LANDSCAPE FUTURES—A BIOMIMETIC AND CLIMATE-RESILIENT FRAMEWORK FOR ARID MEGACITIES IN THE ANTHROPOCENE
As the global climate crisis escalates, arid megacities face unprecedented socio-ecological vulnerabilities. This paper explores rewilding—a regenerative, biomimetic strategy—for reimagining urban design in hyper-arid contexts like Baghdad (Babylon). We propose a framework that blends ecological restoration, traditional hydrological wisdom, and climate-adaptive technologies to build resilience in megacities under stress. Drawing from six foundational works in regenerative urbanism, climate adaptation, and biomimicry, we develop a layered, modular model applicable across similar bioclimatic zones. Empirical visualizations and comparative case tables are used to demonstrate the projected impact of rewilding strategies on urban microclimates and social systems.
