The Impact of Second Language Acquisition on Cognitive Flexibility
This study investigates the impact of second language acquisition (SLA) oncognitive flexibility, comparing early bilinguals, late bilinguals, and monolinguals.Using the Wisconsin Card Sorting Test (WCST) and Stroop Task, results indicatethat early bilinguals exhibit superior cognitive flexibility, followed by late bilinguals, with monolinguals showing the lowest performance. These findings support thehypothesis that SLA enhances cognitive adaptability, particularly when languagesare acquired early in life. Implications for educational policy and future researchdirections are discussed
