INJURY TO EXCELLENCE: A SCIENTIFIC FRAMEWORK FOR YOUTH SPORTS PHYSIOLOGY, REHABILITATION, AND WELLNESS

Abstract This study presents a scientific framework designed to support young athletes by addressing three key areas: sports physiology, injury rehabilitation, and wellness. The aim is to enhance athletic performance while ensuring safe recovery and holistic development. Through a mixed-methods approach, the research includes a comprehensive literature review and expert surveys conducted among sports coaches, physiotherapists, and physical educators in Punjab, India. Data were analyzed using SPSS software, and findings were drawn from evidence-based practices, structured training programs, and multidisciplinary collaboration. The results highlight that early physiological assessment, age-appropriate training, and personalized rehabilitation significantly improve performance and reduce injury recurrence. Additionally, wellness strategies—such as proper nutrition, mental health support, and load management—are essential for long-term athlete development. The study emphasizes the value of integrating sports science, medicine, and education to transition young athletes from injury to excellence. However, the research is geographically limited and may not represent global youth sports conditions. Despite this, the framework contributes valuable insights to the fields of sports science, physical education, and sports rehabilitation. It is particularly beneficial for coaches, educators, and sports healthcare professionals seeking to create safer and more effective environments for youth athletes.
