Caste-Based Conflicts and the Role of Uttar Pradesh Police in Maintaining Social Harmony
Abstract: Caste-based conflicts remain a significant challenge in Uttar Pradesh, a state with a diverse and stratified social structure. These conflicts, rooted in historical injustices, social inequalities, and political motivations, often disrupt social harmony. The Uttar Pradesh Police plays a crucial role in preventing, managing, and resolving such conflicts. This research article examines the prevalence and causes of caste-based conflicts in Uttar Pradesh, evaluates the effectiveness of police interventions, and highlights areas for improvement. It draws on case studies, secondary data, and interviews to provide a comprehensive understanding of the issue. The findings suggest that while the police have made progress in maintaining law and order, systemic reforms and proactive measures are essential for sustainable social harmony.
