A Topological Perspective on the Birch and Swinnerton-Dyer Conjecture

“A Topological Framework for the Birch-and-Swinnerton–Dyer (BSD) Conjecture.” Rather than revisiting well-trodden analytic proofs, this work builds a geometric bridge: a four-dimensional embedding Φ that lets one see BSD’s arithmetic invariants as tangible topological loops. Core contributions of the research · From algebraic rank to visible loops: We prove that each ℤ-independent point on an elliptic curve corresponds to an independent infinite loop in Φ(E), giving a direct geometric interpretation of rank (Theorems 4.1–4.4). · Empirical confirmation up to very high rank: Using certified LMFDB data we verify the loop-rank correspondence for ranks 0–3, and then tackle a rank-8 curve with adaptive sampling, precision management, and 64-core parallelism; our analysis yields r = 7.96 ± 0.12 and matches the known value 8. · Scalable arithmetic engine: Section 10 supplies an O(N log N log 1/ε) algorithm for the key statistic Fₙₑw(N), together with statistical bounds that separate (log N)^r from (log N)^{r+1} growth. · Toward higher-genus analogues: We prove that abelian surfaces require an 8-dimensional embedding and sketch Φ_A for general g-dimensional abelian varieties. · Future frontiers: A final section outlines machine-learning pipelines for automatic loop detection and hints at quantum-algorithmic acceleration.
