Unraveling the Psychosocial Impacts of Peer Pressure on Adolescents' Risk-Taking Behaviour: A Social Perspective
Adolescence is a developmental stage characterized by heightened sensitivity to social influences, in which peer pressure plays a significant role. While global research has emphasized the impact of peer relationships on teenage behavior, limited attention has been given to how peer pressure specifically affects risk-taking among adolescents in different socio-cultural contexts, such as South Asia. This study aims to explore the influence of peer pressure on risk taking behaviour on teenagers. To assess the predictive impact of peer pressure on adolescents’ propensity for risky behaviors, linear regression analysis was employed. One-way ANOVA was used to examine group differences. Results indicated that peer pressure has significant effect on risk-taking behaviour. Peer pressure strongly influences adolescents’ risk-taking tendencies, underscoring the importance of socially informed interventions and prevention strategies. This study contributes to a deeper understanding of adolescent risk-taking by analyzing behaviours within the framework of peer relationships and social dynamics.
