Quantum Wakes and Scared Cats: Indirect Tracking of Electron Paths Without Collapse
This submission explores a novel method for passively detecting the path of single electrons using wake patterns in a cold, directional electron gas. The concept, metaphorically described as a “quantum river,” allows for indirect measurement of particle motion without collapsing the wavefunction. The first paper presents simulation results showing measurable angular deflections and energy transfer in the electron background, supporting weak measurement potential. The second paper outlines a new “trap-release” model, where a cold-trapped electron is allowed to escape under weakened confinement, displaying delayed, hesitant motion like a “scared cat.” Together, these works suggest new approaches to tracking quantum particles through minimally invasive means.
