Chronon Field Theory: Unification of Gravity and Gauge Interactions via Temporal Flow Dynamics
We present Chronon Field Theory (CFT), a unified theoretical framework in which the foundational entity is a smooth, unit-norm, future-directed timelike vector field Φμ(x), representing the local orientation and coherence of temporal flow—termed the Real Now. In contrast to conventional quantum field theories that assume a fixed spacetime background and postulate matter fields, CFT treats time itself as a physical, dynamical field from which spacetime geometry, matter, and interactions emerge. In this formulation, fundamental interactions arise from distinct deformation modes of Φμ: Gravity emerges from coherent, large-scale curvature of the Chronon field. Electromagnetism corresponds to local U(1) phase rotations. Weak interactions are associated with parity-violating shear distortions. Strong interactions emerge from quantized topological flux tubes. Fermions are modeled as stable topological solitons classified by the homotopy group π3(S^3), with spin, mass, and quantum statistics encoded in internal winding structures. Mass generation arises not from the Higgs mechanism, but through deformation energy intrinsic to the Chronon field. CFT is shown to be canonically quantizable, perturbatively renormalizable at one loop, and intrinsically ultraviolet finite due to its smooth solitonic topology—eliminating the need for counterterms. In the low-energy limit, it reproduces key features of the Standard Model and general relativity, while also predicting observable deviations in scattering amplitudes, hadronization behavior, and Lorentz-violating signatures. Large-scale 3+1D lattice simulations of Chronon dynamics demonstrate the spontaneous formation of stable, quantized solitons and emergent causal order—providing computational support for the hypothesis that matter and spacetime originate from the topological dynamics of time itself. Chronon Field Theory offers a first-principles reformulation of fundamental physics grounded in the geometry and dynamics of time. It fulfills key aspirations of Einsteinian unification and introduces a simulation-based pathway for probing high-energy phenomena beyond current collider capabilities.
