Challenges in the Implementation of Choice Based Credit System for Medical Allied Courses: Perspective on Medical Laboratory Technology
The Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) was introduced to enhance academic flexibility, interdisciplinary learning, and learner autonomy in higher education. While CBCS has been implemented successfully in arts, science, and engineering disciplines, its adaptation to medical allied courses such as Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) has encountered considerable challenges. This review critically examines the structural, pedagogical, administrative, and professional challenges of implementing CBCS in MLT education. The article also highlights strategic interventions required to streamline CBCS integration in medical allied curricula.
