Launched on October 30, 2023 and hosted by the University of Tirana (Faculty of Natural Sciences, Department of Biology), Fluturat e Shqipërisë is a dynamic, interactive website and distribution atlas dedicated to Albania’s butterfly fauna.Updated annually, the platform offers a comprehensive overview of species distributions (including 2024 surveys involving dissection and COI barcoding), a growing checklist, general chapters, monographs, and identification tools for Balkan butterflies.It invites contributions from researchers and enthusiasts, photographs, observations, questions, to expand knowledge and spur collaboration.Designed by Sylvain Cuvelier and Anila Paparisto, this resource fosters awareness, supports the sharing of unpublished data, and adapts continuously as new findings emerge.Key Objectives:Raise awareness and promote research on the rich butterfly diversity of Albania.Encourage submission of unpublished observational data and ongoing survey results.Maintain a dynamically updated species checklist.Adapt individual species distribution maps with each new data set.
