A Study of Physico-Chemical Parameter of Krishna River
Abstract: In Maharashtra the river basin system includes 5 rivers from which Krishna, Godavari, Tapi and Narmada contributes 92% water to the cultivable land and more than 60% to population in rural areas. Krishna River originates which flows into the four states of India and finally reaches to Bay of Bengal and covers 1400 kms and in Maharashtra about 483 kms. Physico-Chemical parameters are very necessary and principal to test the water before it is used for domestic, agricultural, drinking and industrial purpose. In Krishna River, water temperature was decreased in winter season (23.460C) and increased in summer season (30.160C). Higher pH value was recorded in month of August (8.60) and lower pH value was recorded in month of March (6.69). The dissolved oxygen of water was higher in month of May (8.93) and lower in the January (6.64). Free carbon dioxide of water was increased in month of May (6.61) and it was decreased in Month of December (2.53). Hardness value was higher in month of May (83.5) and lower Hardness value was recorded in month of July (48.53). BOD of water was higher in month of June and lower in the November. Alkalinity of water was higher in month of May and lower in the November.
