A Neural Network Approach to Bird Species Detection from Audio Recordings

The number of birds is changing a lot these days because of things like climate change, global warming, forest fires, deforestation, and other things. Machine learning algorithms can now automatically identify bird species, which makes it possible to keep an eye on both the number of birds and their behavior. This work develops an automatic bird identification system that does not require physical interaction because it takes a lot of time and effort to identify different bird species by hand. To reach this goal, we employ a Convolutional Neural Network instead of classifiers like SVM, Random Forest, and SMACPY that are more common. The primary objective is to ascertain the bird species utilizing the information that encompasses the vocalizations of several birds. The input dataset will undergo pre-processing, including framing, silence removal, reconstruction, and the creation of a spectrogram. This spectrogram will then be provided to a convolutional neural network (CNN) for modification, testing, and classification. The result is compared to pre-trained data, and the output is created. Birds are then grouped based on their size, color, species, and other traits.
