Business plan incl. exploitation, marketing plan, and financing needs for most promising technology
Deliverable “D8.7: Business plan incl. exploitation, marketing plan, and financing needs for most promising technology” concerns the composition of a business plan of the development of recyclable packaging films for the food and/or non-food sector that include recycled polyethylene (PE) developed within the CIRCULAR FoodPack project. The primary goal is the commercial integration of CIRCULAR FoodPack technologies through market analysis and the development of business and organizational models. The methodology developed by NTUA, includes initially the description of the technology and the business framework, as well as the development of a business model using the Business Model Canvas (BMC), taking into account customer needs and preferences. Additionally, a market analysis, as well as consumers and experts’ survey have been conducted by the partner Ecozept, in order to identify the market potential and the preferences and expectations of the relevant stakeholders. SWOT analysis has also been conducted to identify opportunities and threats that impact market integration and competitor analysis for the main technologies has been described. The markets for recycled plastic packaging and recycled PE are expected to grow significantly the next years due to environmental concerns and strict regulations. Key target sectors include the food and beverage industry, as well as personal care and cosmetics. Challenges include the need for compliance with food safety regulations and the development of waste collection and sorting infrastructure. Market analysis shows substantial demand for circular packaging, with consumers showing interest in sustainable solutions. However, consumer acceptance and resistance to change pose challenges for the widespread adoption of recycled materials. Marketing strategies involve the use of digital channels and participation in industry events to increase awareness and visibility of the proposed solutions. The financial plan outlines the anticipated income, expenses, and profitability for the packaging solutions developed within the CIRCULAR FoodPack project. After the second year the operational result is positive, suggesting a gradual improvement in profitability after initial startup costs or expenses. Overall, the deliverable emphasizes the importance of innovation and collaboration with stakeholders for the successful integration of CIRCULAR FoodPack technologies into the market, promoting circular economy and sustainability. Note: This project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No. 101003806.
