Bóg i wiara w słowie Norwida
God and faith in the words of Cyprian Norwid The article deals with the theological content in the poetry and prose of polish nineteenth century, late romantic writer Cyprian Norwid. Its title mentions the “words”, because Norwid was also painter and sculpturer. The poet resists to the tendencies of his epoch: secularization and loss of religious interest. His theological reflection was widely quoted by John Paul II and considered as precursory to Vatican II. Norwid points out that the world belongs to its Creator and Redeemer and without acknowledgement of this we cannot reveal the truth about our humanity. The history of nations need theological interpretation as well. It flows according to the stream of consciences, as also remarks John Paul II. Norwid criticize those trends in the art that tends only to please the audience. In his view the artist have mission to seek the beauty of the eternity, and encourage in this way to spiritual efforts and to show the eschatological sense of human life.
