THE ROLE OF AI IN TEACHING WRITING: TRANSFORMING THE CLASSROOM, ONE SENTENCE AT A TIME

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is redefining the field of education, offering unprecedented tools and resources that enhance traditional teaching methods. This paper explores the evolving role of AI in teaching writing, examining how AI-powered tools assist educators in improving students’ writing skills. The applications of AI in writing instruction range from grammar correction and personalized feedback to advanced natural language processing, which provides nuanced insights into writing style, tone, and structure. This article argues that, while AI cannot replace the human touch essential for cultivating creativity and critical thinking, it serves as an invaluable supplement to teachers. By automating repetitive tasks, offering real-time feedback, and enabling personalized learning, AI supports both educators and students, ultimately fostering a more effective, accessible, and engaging writing education. This paper also addresses the ethical considerations and potential limitations associated with AI in the writing classroom.
