Ground Water Recharge Forecasting in Mauritius
Effective management of Mauritius’s hydrology is vital to maintaining ecological balance, economic growth, and societal well-being. With increasing industrialization and the development of smart cities, demand for potable water continues to rise. In the long term, an additional minimum of 60 Mm³ of water will need to be secured for the potable water sector. Ground water account for a major share in the potable water distribution. Aquifers are being depleted and securing ground water recharges are of utmost importance to sustain the long-term availability of quality water for the island's future.
