SMART CITIES: INTEGRATING TECHNOLOGY INTO URBAN PLANNING

Urbanization is emerging as a defining feature of the 21st century, with the United Nations projecting that by 2050, 68% of the world’s population will live in cities. This shift offers enormous opportunities for economic development, but it also poses and can lead to serious and negative challenges, such as infrastructure, resource management, and social equity. Smart cities offer important and necessary solutions to these challenges by leveraging technology to create sustainable, efficient, and inclusive urban environments.
