IMPROVING METHODOLOGY FOR DEVELOPING READING SKILLS IN STUDENTS BASED ON METACOGNITIVE APPROACHES
This article investigates the potential of integrating metacognitive strategies into reading instruction to enhance students' reading skills. Metacognition, or the ability to monitor, control, and plan one’s cognitive processes, has proven to improve reading comprehension, retention, and engagement. By emphasizing self-regulation and reflective thinking, metacognitive approaches encourage students to actively engage with texts and refine their strategies as needed. The study presents an analysis of various metacognitive techniques and their impact on students’ reading abilities, providing a comprehensive framework for improving reading instruction.
