Owady inwazyjne w Polsce: Analiza zainteresowania naukowego w latach 2000-2023

The aim of the study was to present changes in scientific interest in selected species of in-vasive insects in Poland: ladybird, western conifer seed bug, box tree moth, true bug and horsechestnut leaf miner. In our country these species do not occur naturally. Due to the lack of natu-ral factors limiting the growth of their populations, they are becoming a threat to native speciesof fauna and flora.Based on the Google Scholar database, an analysis of scientific interest in selected invasiveinsects was performed according to the concept of a narrative review. Articles, books and mono-graphs on selected species in the years 2000-2023 were searched. Latin names of species wereused as keywords. The paper provides the number of scientific publications on the studied in-vasive insect species in the analyzed research period. Both the year of the first appearance ofinsects in Poland and the characterization of the rate of territorial expansion and the threats anddamage they may cause was analyzed. A clear increase in scientific interest in selected invasiveinsects was noted in the years 2000-2023. Scientists’ interest in the ladybird was noted since2002, for the western conifer seed bug since 2009, and for the box tree beetle and the true bugsince 2013 and 2016, respectively. The horse-chestnut leaf miner differed from the other spe-cies in terms of scientific interest. For this pest, an upward trend was observed only until 2009.In subsequent years, the number of publications on the insect was lower. Based on the analysesperformed, it was found that, with the exception of the horse-chestnut leaf miner, a further in-crease in the number of publications on the subject can be expected for the remaining species. This is indicated by the trend line in the graphs, which has an upward trend. The probable in-crease in the number of publications will be associated with the need to develop further researchthat will be helpful in understanding the factors determining the spread and threats from thedescribed species
