PCB-Based CPU Socket Alternatives
Conventional CPU sockets use a combination of a molded plastic housing andmetal spring contacts to achieve electrical connection and mechanical retention(e.g., LGA, PGA). While proven and standardized, such solutions introduceseveral drawbacks:Increased part count and separate assembly steps.Complex tooling for housing and springs.Higher overall thickness compared to a PCB-integrated solution. With the continuous push for compact, high-speed, and cost-optimized designs,it is worth exploring PCB-based socket concepts that eliminate the traditionalplastic housing, while still retaining CPU replaceability.
