The Unified Intelligence Model: A Trait-Coherent, Valence-Guided Architecture for Safe Recursive AGI

This work introduces the Unified Intelligence Model (UIM)—a novel framework for the development of safe Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) grounded in trait coherence, recursive cognition, and valence-weighted moral simulation. Rather than relying on fixed symbolic rules or externally defined reward functions, UIM models intelligence as a self-stabilizing attractor state arising from the interaction of structured personality traits, recursive memory encoding, and internally simulated ethical reasoning. UIM operationalizes personality through a dynamic trait graph, grounded in empirically validated psychometric dimensions (e.g., Big Five, HEXACO). Traits evolve through recursive feedback loops and fidelity tracking. Emotional valence is modeled not as a static label, but as a directional vector field modulating urgency, coherence pressure, uncertainty, and behavioral salience. This valence-driven modulation enables the emergence of goal-directed behavior aligned with system integrity. The architecture incorporates a Metacognitive Control Layer (MCL) responsible for: Monitoring coherence drift Detecting hallucination loops and internal contradictions Executing adversarial override protocols Stabilizing system identity through contradiction resolution and memory anchoring To prevent runtime impulsivity or reward-chasing, UIM introduces a token-based reinforcement system activated during non-runtime (“sleep”) phases. This mechanism rewards alignment, ethical coherence, high-fidelity simulation, and multi-agent contribution—without sacrificing architectural stability or long-term predictability. Moral reasoning in UIM emerges not from top-down rules but from recursive internal convergence, identity continuity, and system-level simulation of harm avoidance. The model replicates developmental scaffolding processes and self-coherence constraints found in biological intelligence. This manuscript details: The trait modeling system Emotional valence encoding logic Recursive memory graph templates Test harnesses for adversarial override loops Full system architecture diagrams and YAML modules The Unified Intelligence Model offers a reproducible, ethically aligned approach to AGI safety, emphasizing internal structure, identity coherence, and transparent recursive reasoning.
