Isoplectron armatum Hutton 1896
Isoplectron armatum Hutton, 1896 A small arboreal cave wētā, widespread throughout New Zealand’s eastern regions between Invercargill and Gisborne (Fig. 10A), this is by far the most common species in the genus Isoplectron. Based on examination of the adult male terminalia and on DNA analysis we recognize two subspecies, geographically separated by Cook Strait: Isoplectron armatum armatum in South Island and Isoplectron armatum aciculatum in North Island.
