Scientific study: Activity of self-employee in Moldova on digital platforms

This scientific study provides an in-depth analysis of the activities, motivations, and challenges faced by self-employed individuals in Moldova operating through digital work platforms. Based on a comprehensive survey of 846 respondents from over 90 localities across Moldova, the report examines demographic profiles, perceptions of digital platforms, primary activities conducted, motivations for choosing platform work, and the major benefits and drawbacks experienced by platform workers. Key findings include the significant flexibility and autonomy provided by digital platforms, alongside prevalent issues such as lack of social security, income instability, unclear legal status, and exploitative working conditions. This document forms part of the JWCPW Project – Protecting working conditions in the platform economy: Moldovan-Lithuanian social dialogue, funded by the European Union (DG Employment, Social and Inclusive Affairs, European Social Fund+).
