Modus ponens conjunctivus
Background:The Modus Ponens Conjunctivus (MPC) is a relatively underexplored yet conceptually robust inference rule in propositional logic which is of great epistemological relevance in empirical sciences --- particularly in medicine and epidemiology.Material and methods:To demonstrate the logical background of MPC, we re--evaluated this inference rule using formal logical techniques. The methodological framework incorporated principles such as conditio sine qua non, conditio per quam, negation-based implication analysis and other. Results:An MPC-based approach enables a logically consistent integration of heterogeneous data sources and provides an opportunity to derive non--trivial yet logically sound causal hypotheses, thereby demonstrating its interdisciplinary utility. Conclusion:The Modus Ponens Conjunctivus represents a powerful extension of classical inferential logic, offering a rigorous yet flexible framework for scientific reasoning. Its capacity to bridge formal logic with empirical inquiry suggests promising new avenues for causal discovery across disciplines.
