A Comparative Analysis of Five Global and Cultural Interior Design Styles
This study presents a comparative analysis of five globally influential interior design styles: Scandinavian, Classical, Japandi, Minimalist, and African Contemporary. Drawing on qualitative visual analysis, the research examines each style’s origins, design philosophy, form, materials, and finishes through curated mood boards and descriptive evaluation. The paper highlights cultural influences, aesthetic principles, and the ways these styles intersect or diverge in contemporary practice. A comparative framework is provided to support culturally sensitive and informed design applications. The findings contribute to cross-cultural interior design scholarship and offer practical insights for design practitioners, educators, and researchers.
