HR Initiatives to Address Social Isolation: Enhancing Engagement and Prosocial Behaviour Among Employees

The workplace has become a critical environment for fostering not only professional productivity but also social and emotional well-being. In recent years, increasing attention has been directed toward employee engagement, social connectivity, and prosocial behavior as part of a broader organizational human resource management (HRM) strategy. This study investigates the impact of HR mentoring initiatives on addressing social isolation among employees and how these programs foster prosocial behaviors within corporate settings. A structured questionnaire was administered to a sample of employees from various sectors. The study explores the role of mentorship, societal and organizational factors, and employee perceptions regarding HR-driven social connectivity programs. Findings reveal that mentorship initiatives significantly reduce social isolation and enhance engagement and interpersonal cooperation among employees. Recommendations are made for designing more structured mentorship programs to improve workplace well-being and foster inclusive work cultures.
