Power Aware By Sapon And Power Gating Techniques In Cmos Ring Oscillator For 5g Mobile Communications

Abstract: Oscillator circuits are essential for generating accurate and stable clock signals, which are crucial for a wide range of applications, from simple wristwatches to complex satellite systems, especially in long-distance communications. These oscillators can be constructed using either passive or active components, each offering distinct advantages and limitations. In today’s mobile communication landscape, the emphasis is on interoperability and energy efficiency, leading to the demand for compact, battery-operated devices. VLSI-based ring oscillators provide an optimal solution, being both power-efficient and compact, with a broad tuning range. This paper presents a novel CMOS ring oscillator designed to operate as a Voltage Controlled Oscillator (VCO). The proposed design combines the strengths of a current-starved ring oscillator with a negative-skewed delay, allowing for effective control over both the voltage and supply. It generates a primary frequency with harmonic distortion between the input and output signals. By carefully selecting passive components, this architecture is ideally suited for 5G applications that require high frequency and low power consumption
