Organization use administrative skills. It mostly use official form of communication. File minuting forms part of day to day organizational communication. However, researchers have not done much in this aspect of communication, more especially in Nigeria. This study explored file minuting as administrative skills for official organizational communication in COEs using Review of related literatures method. The review revealed that file minuting have ethical “don’ts” like Never continue letter numbering from a page to another page nor number paragraphs with alphabets (a, b, c, etc); never number the first paragraph nor number the second paragraph with one (1), but with 2 (as it is assumed that the first unnumbered paragraph has a silent number 1) among others. Equally, administrative skills include organizing and maintening filing systems; teamwork and interpersonal skills; problem solving skills; decision making; technology and software and time management skills respectively. The paper recommends that management of COEs in Nigeria should make sure that these ethical “dont’s” are avoided and use administrative skills effectively.
