Addressing Mental Health Disparities in Northern Ontario Schools: Culturally Responsive Strategies for Rural and Indigenous Youth
This paper has explored the significant disparities in mental health awareness, access, and outcomes between public and on-reserve school systems in Northern Ontario. Evidence shows that culturally grounded interventions can build resilience, yet systemic barriers like underfunding persist. Addressing youth mental health requires sustainable, equity-driven approaches aligned with reconciliation commitments, fostering environments where all students can thrive.
