Common Terms and Definitions - DYNAPORT project
A common understanding among sometimes large numbers of stakeholders from diverse backgrounds involved in a process that requires coordination and communication, will be a precondition “sine qua non” for successful collaboration their process. This applies throughout supply chains and transport and logistics networks. It most definitely also applies to the collaboration of the DYNAPORT participants to achieve the objectives of the DYNAPORT project. This document contains terms and definition as well as abbreviations that are used across multiple documents and deliverables produced by the DYNAPORT project. The document will be updated continuously during the DYNAPORT project to meet the needs of the project participants and any parties that are involved in the DYNAPORT project or associated projects. This document does not in any way aim to be a comprehensive set of terminology for the Maritime mode of transport. Its primary aim is to provide a solid foundation of semantics that will be used consistently across the DYNAPORT project. As such, it is a fundamental building block for achieving Semantic Interoperability in line with the European Interoperability Framework (EIF). The document, to the extent feasible, uses terms and definitions that are already available from standardisation organisations; it clearly references the sources of terms and definitions. The document has been shared with communities outside DYNAPORT such as the MISSION project, which is the sibling project funded by the European Commission. The creators, welcome feedback from the wider community. That feedback will then inform future updates to the document.
