Perspectives on 6G in Brazil: A SMARTNESS View

This work contributes with a glimpse of 6G initiatives in Brazil by presenting perspectives that range from 5G-centric initiatives to 6G-native research endeavors. An overview of the main funding forces and relevant active projects are followed by a closer look at the recently started 10-year SMARTNESS engineering research center. The vision and research strand approach of SMARTNESS are highlighted. To conclude, final remarks and future perspectives are provided.
