Employee Training And Development In Msmes In Spsr Nellore District
ABSTRACT Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) form the backbone of India’s economy, contributing significantly to employment generation, innovation, and regional development. This study focuses on examining the training and development practices among MSMEs in SPSR Nellore District, Andhra Pradesh, with a view to understanding how workforce skill enhancement contributes to enterprise growth and employee performance. Based on a structured survey of 250 respondents drawn from various roles, enterprise types, and industry sectors, the study explores key dimensions such as demographic profiles, educational qualifications, job roles, years of experience, and types and locations of MSMEs. The findings reveal a diverse workforce in terms of age, education, and experience, with a balanced representation from both urban and rural areas. Notably, a significant proportion of employees work in micro-enterprises and manufacturing sectors, highlighting the need for targeted training programs. The analysis underscores the crucial role of continuous employee development in enhancing productivity, retaining talent, and enabling MSMEs to adapt to changing market demands. It also identifies gaps in existing training practices and offers insights into how training programs can be tailored to suit the needs of enterprises of varying scales and industries. The study concludes with recommendations for policy-makers, MSME owners, and training institutions to develop inclusive and practical training frameworks that empower both workers and businesses in the district.
