A Framework for Implementing Competency-Based Teaching in Higher Computer Education.
This work proposes a framework for implementing Competency-Based Education (CBE) in higher education computing courses to bridge academic training with market demands. Through a systematic review and surveys with educators and the software industry, the study identifies current perceptions, challenges, and benefits associated with CBE. Preliminary findings reveal broad recognition of CBE's potential to enhance students' practical and socio-emotional skills, highlighting the need for institutional support in training educators for effective adoption. The framework aims to provide a practical methodology for integrating CBE into the professional development of future computing professionals.
