Reducing the Carbon Footprint of Meat Production: Innovations in Feed and Farming Practices
Meat production is a major contributor to greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, deforestation, and excessive resource consumption, posing significant environmental challenges. The livestock sector is responsible for a considerable share of methane (CH4) and carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions, necessitating urgent interventions to improve sustainability. This paper explores cutting-edge innovations in feed composition, precision livestock farming, regenerative agriculture, and waste management strategies that can mitigate environmental impact. Additionally, we analyse the role of blockchain technology, artificial intelligence (AI), and policy frameworks in ensuring transparency and efficiency in sustainable meat production.
