Atopotrophos Cushman 1919

Atopotrophos Cushman, 1919 Atopognathus Cushman, 1919: 116. Type species: Atopognathus collaris Cushman (= Mesoleptus bucephalus Cresson). By monotypy. Junior homonym of Atopognathus Bigot, 1881. Atopotrophos Cushman, 1940: 385. New name for Atopognathus Cushman. Tea Fauna Project 2023 Diagnosis. Atopotrophos can be readily distinguished from other oedemopsines by the following combination of features: 1) mandible wider at apex with ventral tooth twisted anteriorly so that the dorsal tooth is hidden when the mandible is closed (Figs 3A, 5A, 7A); 2), oral fossa separated from the foramen magnum by a postgenal bridge; 3) Fore wing vein 3rs-m absent (Figs 3L, 7I); 4) T1 cylindrical and lacking glymma (Figs 3J–K, 4, 7H).
