Scalar Thermodynamics: Phase Resonance and Energetic Repatterning
Abstract: Traditional thermodynamics treats energy transfer as linear, external, and mechanical—quantified through pressure, temperature, and volume. However, scalar thermodynamics proposes an alternative view: that energy propagates through systems not only by force, but by resonance. This framework introduces phase resonance as a key component of systemic integrity, where transitions between solid, liquid, gas, or symbolic states reflect not disorder, but the reorganization of coherence. In this white paper, we explore scalar thermodynamics as a framework for understanding how systems across biology, physics, cognition, and society retain or lose coherence under pressure—and how to design for energetic repatterning rather than rupture.
