Green Synthesis and Characterization of Nickel Copper Mixed Ferrite Nanoparticles

In this study, the sol-gel method was primarily employed to synthesize Cu1-xNixFe2O4 (x = 0, 0.5, 1) nanoparticles. Iron nitrate and nickel copper ferrite were used as oxidizers, while green reducing agents acted as fuel in the synthesis process. In CuFe2O4 nanoparticles, nickel (Ni2+) ions replace Fe3+ ions. The effects of substituting Ni2+ ions for Fe3+ were studied in terms of particle size, surface morphology, and magnetic behavior. The synthesized nano ferrite samples were characterized using various techniques, including X-ray diffraction and Scanning Electron Microscopy. The results showed that nickel substitution led to a decrease in the particle size of copper ferrite across all processes using green reducing agents, with the lemon extract-based combustion method yielding the best results compared to other fuels. Cu1-xNixFe2O4 nanoparticles prepared with lemon extract exhibited unique properties, including smaller particle size.
