ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE'S ROLE IN MAINTAINING A SUSTAINABLE ENVIRONMENT

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has become a powerful and practical tool for addressing the complex challenges of environmental sustainability. This article explores how AI helps support sustainable development, especially in key areas like urban planning, plastic recycling, and pollution control. It also discusses the current and future challenges, possible solutions, and what might happen if we ignore AI’s potential in this field. Today, updated versions of AI can quickly analyze large amounts of data and find smart ways to improve energy use, manage natural resources better, and help restore ecosystems. But using AI isn’t without its problems—there are issues like data privacy, the high energy demand of AI systems, and the risk of bias in decision making. Still, its merit is really important for environmental protection. Without it, we risk falling behind in fighting climate change, improving farming, and saving nature. By combining AI with ideas like regenerative design and circular economies, we can build a future that’s not only sustainable but also more adaptable to change. Sustainable development's main goal is meeting our current needs without harming the ability of future generations to meet theirs. That includes protecting the environment, growing the economy, and ensuring fairness in society. AI, with its smart data processing and system optimization, is becoming one of the best tools to solve today’s environmental problems.
