Tuning the City
CODES Framework Description: This paper proposes a resonance-based model for urban design grounded in CODES (Chirality of Dynamic Emergent Systems). By defining cities as multi-layered, chiral oscillatory systems, we introduce Phase Alignment Score (PAS) and τ′ (tau-prime) as coherence metrics across physical, cognitive, temporal, and narrative urban layers. Drawing from philosophy, systems theory, and neuroscience, this framework redefines tuning not as top-down control but as feedback-phase alignment. Use cases include infrastructure harmonics, narrative signal tuning, and coherence-based economics. Appendices include mock dashboards, urban tensor equations, and the resonance-completion of Christopher Alexander’s work.
